How To Harness The Beauty Of The Summer Season For Your Skin

One of the most important ways to allow the power of nature to support your health and beauty is to tune in to the changing seasons of the year. Every part of the year has a different collective energy, which in turn affect your personal energy. We believe that riding this wave and adjusting your dietary and lifestyle patterns to be in sync with the flow of the season will help you achieve your best beauty.

You may notice that each season has a different effect on your skin, and it is important to adjust accordingly. The season will influence your exercise and activity levels, and your body and skin react to the changing temperature and environment.

Below we share Peace & Pure's top tips on how to shift your lifestyle and skincare routines to maintain your beauty in alignment with the summer season.

Sunscreen is a Must

Summer brings the most intense sunlight, which is activating and exciting. But the sun is also one of the main causes of ageing and other skin damage. During the summer it is imperative to invest in a SPF sunscreen that has both UVA and UVB protection. Reapply it throughout the day while you are in the heat of summer sun. Don’t forget to protect your lips too by using a gloss or a lip balm with an SPF.

Stay hydrated

Stay hydrated and drink lots of water. Cooling herbal teas such as mint tea, fresh juices, coconut water are all great choices too if you find just drinking plain water is a bit boring. If possible, carry a water bottle with you and remember to drink every 30 mins. Water not only helps you feel fresh and cooler, but it also prevents dehydration and will help wash out a lot of toxins created throughout the day.

Choose Skincare Products That Are High In Antioxidants

Invest in antioxidant rich facial serum during the summer. Not only does an antioxidant serum hydrate your skin, but it can also protect your skin from environmental damage. It helps to boost collagen production and will scavenge harmful free radicals to prevent skin damage. It is a great tip on how to take care of combination skin as well as normal to oily skin during summer. Our 5 Star reviewed Timeless Elixir Facial Serum is super high in natural antioxidants, it also aids UV protection, and its natural healing ingredients also repair your skin after long sun exposure.

Enjoy Seasonal Fresh Fruit and Veggies

Stock up on citrus fruits, green and leafy vegetables, summer berries, nuts, and whole grains to nourish the body and for your younger-looking skin. The more in sync you are with the seasons including the food produced, the better your hair, skin and nails will look. Also we remind you to honour your body’s natural inclination to eat lighter during the heat of summer. Listen to your body and never force it to eat.

Go for Minimal Make-up

During the summer wearing less make-up is recommended. At Peace & Pure we advise you to avoid wearing heavy foundations as extra sweat and oil resulted from the hot temperature will clog your pores.

Don’t Cut Down Your Resting Time

Being in the sunshine suppresses the sleep hormone melatonin, and then when the sun goes down, your body produces melatonin making you feel sleepier than ever. We recommend prioritising a healthy 8 hours sleep to re-energise your body and mind.

Be Aware of Alcohol Intake

We understand that with the end of restrictions, and the beautiful summer nights there is more opportunity and reason to enjoy a cool glass of wine.  Alcohol removes the fluid in the skin which can increase the appearance of wrinkles, dryness and sagging skin. Drinking excessively can create a false sense of hydration. While being aware of your alcohol intake, we recommend drinking a glass of water between glasses of alcohol.

Exercise In Tune with the Season

Due to the intense change of heat, you might not be drawn to intense cardio exercise including running or weight training and might fancy trying yoga or swimming. Yoga and swimming are two of our favourite exercises at Peace & Pure. Yoga can help brighten your mood whilst helping with stress levels, and swimming can cool you down after a day in the heat.

In summary...

Each of us is a part of the natural world, and living in accordance with natural principles and rhythms align us with Mother Nature. This powerfully supports our natural beauty to flow through. The more you are in harmony with nature and her rhythms and energies, the more positive effect you will see on your well-being and beauty.
